Gryphon Entertainment is proud to collaborate with Mexican Picture Partnership, London, on the reconstruction of Sergei Eisenstein’s unfinished ¡Qué Viva México! — a cultural and artistic milestone in the history of cinema.
Due to the importance and prestige of the project, the artistic and technical quality of reconstruction, and the complexity of digital restoration processes applied, the production is poised to set new standards and influence future archival film preservation programs. Original manuscripts, exposes and diaries that have only recently become available will enable an authentic interpretation of Eisenstein’s original ideas. ¡Qué Viva México! will be the first classic movie ever to premiere more than seventy years after its production as a coherently edited and completely reconstructed film. It is a film that was presumed to be lost forever, including more than sixty percent of never before publicly screened footage.
